Chairman, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT); Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), has solicited for quick enactment of the institute’s Draft Bill at the National Assembly, so as to domesticate the institute in Nigeria.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the chairman said that the institute had operated long enough to acquire a chartered status.
“The request for the speedy enactment of the Draft Bill, which is to domesticate an already existing structure of the institute, is a legitimate demand.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the chairman said that the institute had operated long enough to acquire a chartered status.
“The request for the speedy enactment of the Draft Bill, which is to domesticate an already existing structure of the institute, is a legitimate demand.
“It is a call to legislate, as a matter of exigency, the pending bill at the National Assembly,’’ the statement quoted him as saying.
In the statement, Dambazau underscored the importance of logistics to the conduct of 2015 general elections.
According to him, it will be difficult to transport the materials needed for the elections without adequate logistics.
“We need this Draft Bill passed into law to enable us enforce the desired regulations, control, certifications, licensing and sanctioning of practitioners in the industry.
“Once this is done, controls and regulations of practice through enforcement of rules by the institute will certainly sanitise the sector.
“It will also enable to offer new horizon for expansion and increased value chain in our domestic economy,’’ Dambazau said.
