Clearing Agent Charged With Theft Of Employer’s Vehicles

A 33-year-old  man who claimed to be a clearing agent;  Kehinde Falade, who allegedly stole four vehicles belonging to his employer, was on Wednesday charged before an Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court in Lagos.
Falade, who resides at No. 3 Adebayo St., Mushin, Lagos, is facing two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Onaiwu Iyobosa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 26 at about 3:00 p.m. at a motor shop in Orile Iganmu, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Onaiwu Iyobosa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 26 at about 3:00 p.m. at a motor shop in Orile Iganmu, Lagos.
Iyobosa said that the accused stole three unregistered vehicles – Lexus jeep, Infinity jeep and Toyota Corolla 2010 saloon car — whose value was yet to be ascertained, property of one Pastor Adetunji Abiodun.
The prosecutor further said that the accused also stole a Mazda 626 saloon car with Reg. No. JJJ 213 BG– belonging to Abiodun and worth N1.7 million.
She said that when the employer went to the motor shop after the date of the incident, he discovered that the accused had run away.
 She said that the offences committed contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Section 285 provides a penalty of three years imprisonment for the offence.
The Magistrate, Mr F.J. Adefioye granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till July 24 for further hearing.
