The raging tension over tenure elongation at the factionalised National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents, has taken a new dimension with the factional president of the association; Mr Festus Ejifor accusing the founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF); Dr Boniface Aniebonam of meddlesomeness.
He said that the call for election by Dr Aniebonam should be disregarded.

The raging tension over tenure elongation at the factionalised National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents, has taken a new dimension with the factional president of the association; Mr Festus Ejifor accusing the founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF); Dr Boniface Aniebonam of meddlesomeness.
He said that the call for election by Dr Aniebonam should be disregarded.
“We were appointed on Nov. 25; I think by Nov 25 this year, it will make two years; that is when our tenure will expire. He (Aniebonam) said he gave the National Council 30 days to conduct elections.
“I think he cannot tell us that because he is not a member of National Council. He (Aniebonam) said he is the one that pursued Lucky and my argument is that Lucky and us are still in court.”
Ejiofor said that the association could not conduct elections for now because it still had pending court cases involving another faction of the association led by Lucky Amiwero.
“We cannot conduct election when we are in court because I am not ready to go to jail.”
He said that Aniebonam was not a member of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents.
But, in a swift reaction, Aniebonam said that a leader should lead by example, adding that it was not right to extend the transition period given to executives of the association led by Ejiofor.
“I would want to appreciate the fact that he confines himself with the rules of engagement and the law. The National Council is a corporate body known in law with the constitution and all of us are founding members of the council and you will recall that our big friend and big brother Lucky Amiwero had a stay for about 13 years that led to the vote of no confidence on him and a transitional government led by Ejiofor had six months – today is four years. I think it’s wrong for us to keep on flouting the laws governing such corporate bodies.
“I am a member of the founding fathers of the National Council and I will hope that my good friend; Ejiofor should understand that it is important you lead by example.
“You cannot extend transitional period of six months to four years now and if you do that, then it negates the principles, the aims and objective of the vote of no confidence against Lucky Amiwero.
“For me, he has no place to hide. As far as we are concerned, the founding members have had a meeting and gave them 30 days ultimatum to conduct election so that the council can flow in line with the law and if they do not do that, we will at the same time pass a vote of no confidence in them.’’
Aniebonam said the body would not sit back and watch him prolong his tenure further, ''it cannot work’’, he threatened.
