Even as the industry eagerly awaits the interim committee that will take charge of affairs of the embattled governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (NAGAFF) has faulted the current register of freight forwarders.
Speaking through its founder; Dr Boniface Aniebonam, the association alleged that the register that CRFFN has was doctored by some members of the defunct governing council who had ambition of coming back into the council.

“Some of these register that you see now are fake because those who thought they would come back for reelection went and brought people from Idumota and went and registered them, and the registrar is aware of all these things”, he alleged.
According to him, no credible elections can be conducted into the governing council until the irregularities in the register were corrected.
The minister of transport is expected to have approved nominations into the interim governing council of the CRFFN to pave way for arrangement towards elections into the council.
Dr Aniebonam however disclosed that NAGAFF’s only disagreement with the new Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) is the non-inclusion of CRFFN on the Customs board.
He said his expectation is to get CRFFN on track, because according to him, that is the hub of the activities for freight forwarding in Nigeria.
“My expectation is to get CRFFN on track, don’t forget that CRFFN is our baby, so we are not happy about the growth”.
He said by right, CRFFN must be on the board of the Nigeria Customs Service.
He blamed a former minister of transport for allegedly putting the CRRFN on a wrong foundation.
“The council started on a wrong footing, virtually all those who won elections into the council were his clearing agents, because he is an importer and he saw the council as an opportunity to favour his friends”, he alleged.
