Following the in conclusive recruitment exercise embarked upon recently by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), plans are underway for applicants to re-write the examination.
The examination, which was characterised by fraud and lacked coordination was written across the country about one month ago by thousand of Nigerians.
This is the first time NIMASA is contracting its recruitment exercise out to a consultant and our correspondent gathered that the Port Harcourt, Rivers state- based consultancy firm has never handled such a high profile client like NIMASA before now, thereby lacking the capacity to conduct the exercise.
Some applicants in Lagos who spoke to Shipping Position Daily on the condition of anonymity said that of the more than 50,000 candidates who came to Law School in Victoria Island venue of the examination, less than 3,000 applicants actually write the test.
They also complained about the shabby security arrangement put in place by the consultant, which made the private security personnel to be overwhelmed by the crowd.
“One would think that a crusade was going on in Law School,  I am so disappointed, it is very obvious that this consultant does not have what it takes to handle the exercise”, one of the applicants said
In a quick reaction, an official of the consultancy firm handling the exercise; Renner, who also refused to mention her  names said that plans have been concluded to give those that missed the exam an opportunity to re-write the test.
The lady who sounded like a front desk officer stated that the firm has handled a lot of high profile jobs before the NIMASA job came its way.
She however promised that all the noticeable mistakes that were observed in the process of writing the last examinations will be properly looked inot with a view to avoiding a re-occurence.
Shipping Position Daily confirmed last week that another examination has actually been conducted, but there are doubts about the transparency of the process.
