Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, has inaugurated a female and paediatric wards at the Musawa General Hospital in Katsina State, his home state.
Inaugurating the 40-bed facilities and a mosque donated by him, Dikko said the initiative was conceived to support the healthcare service of the state government.

Inaugurating the 40-bed facilities and a mosque donated by him, Dikko said the initiative was conceived to support the healthcare service of the state government.
The customs boss, who was represented by Dr Lawal Aliyu-Musawa, the Majority Leader in the Katsina State House of Assembly, noted that improving the health of the people would facilitate economic and social activities in the area.
Dikko, an indigene of Musawa community, explained that the increase in population necessitated the provision of such facilities to cater for the needs of the people.
He said it was a family culture to provide succour for the less privileged in the society.
Dikko commended Gov. Ibrahim Shema for his populist programme geared towards improving the lives of the people.
He called on the hospital staff to ensure judicious use of the facilities to achieve the desired result.
Also speaking, the Chief Medical Officer in Charge of the Hospital, Dr Obilowo Asimiyu, commended the donor and enjoined others to emulate him.
He said that the gesture would enhance healthcare delivery in the area.
The medical officer urged the people to support the hospital with more buildings, ambulance, diesel, landscaping and food for patients.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Musawa Local Government Area, Alhaji Tanimu Kira, said his administration had recruited 10 health workers to complement existing workers to handle the newly constructed wards.
While pledging the commitment of the staff of the hospital, he commended the donor for the gesture which, he said, was worthy of emulation.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting community, the District Head of Musawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Gidado, described the donation as a worthy venture in addressing the plight of residents.
Gidado also appealed to the state government to provide more structures and equipment as well as to deploy more professionals to the hospital.
The monarch called on religious leaders to re-double their prayers for the nation’s peace and stability.
