Customs Collect N10.9Billion for Q1, 2013 at Port Harcourt Command

The Customs Area 1 Command in Port Harcourt has colected about N10.9billion in the first quarter of 2013.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Harry Samuel on behalf of the Area Controller, Mr Garba Kuffi in Port Harcourt last week.

A breakdown showed that the revenue collected  for the month of January 2013 stood at N2,093,543,236,00, February stood at N2,120,211,772.00, March is N4,487,153,347.00, while April 2013 stands at N252,787,283.
    

The Customs Area 1 Command in Port Harcourt has colected about N10.9billion in the first quarter of 2013.

A breakdown showed that the revenue collected  for the month of January 2013 stood at N2,093,543,236,00, February stood at N2,120,211,772.00, March is N4,487,153,347.00, while April 2013 stands at N252,787,283.
    
The command has also assured that it is set to exceed its N79billion revenue target given to it for year 2013.

Giving details about previous performance of the command, the PRO said that it was given N48 billion as its revenue target in the year 2012, but added that through team work, the Command achieved and even surpassed it by N450Million.

He noted that this was made possible because the Area Controller, Comptroller is focused, hardworking and a very discipline officer with determination to achieve.  

Our correspondent gathered that the Customs Area 1 is mainly for bulk cargo imports like rice, cement, frozen fish, bulk wheat and bulk salt.

“Among all the items, rice gives us a huge amount of revenue’’, the command image maker said.
