A statement sent to Shipping Position Daily last Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer; Mr. Uche Ejesieme revealed that 10,252 bags of rice were seized in 19 trucks, while 554 kegs of groundnut oil were also seized during an operation last Monday.

A statement sent to Shipping Position Daily last Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer; Mr. Uche Ejesieme revealed that 10,252 bags of rice were seized in 19 trucks, while 554 kegs of groundnut oil were also seized during an operation last Monday.
According to the statement, a patrol team led by AC Adamu, A. M. comprising AC Olomu, B. O., SC Abdullahi, ASCI Idris and others, acting on a tip-off swooped on two private warehouses in Saki, Oyo State where a large quantity of suspected illegally imported 50kg bags of rice and vegetable oil were stored.
The statement noted that the evacuation lasted for four days and the team finally arrived Federal Operations Unit , Ikeja Lagos with 19 trucks fully loaded with 50kg bags of rice.
The statement revealed that, ‘’it is instructive to note that the area is notorious for hostility and volatility and expectedly the team was confronted with dangerous weapons by the hoodlums who attempted to dislodge our officers. In the process, our operatives were able to successfully secure the ground and began evacuation of the consignment.”
The unit also said it “will continue to work assiduously towards ensuring the continuous decimation of the nefarious activities of smugglers”
‘’We are fully committed to this mandate as we are mindful of the need to protect the nation’s economy from the hands of these vandals. ‘’
