The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) ‘Zone C’ of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday handed over 19 sacks of Indian Hemp weighing 154.5kg to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Mr Victor Dimka who performed the hand over in Owerri, said that the drugs, worth N9.97 million, were seized on the Benin-Ifom Road.
Dimka said that there was no arrest made as the peddlers ran away, leaving the drugs on sighting officers on patrol.

He stressed the need for the cooperation of other security agencies, adding that such cooperation would bring about synergy among the agencies.
He expressed concern over the involvement of youths in illicit drug trade in spite of the Federal Government’s efforts in engaging them usefully.
Mr Musa Mshelia, the Imo Commander of NDLEA while receiving the bags of Indian hemp, commended the Nigerian customs for the seizure.
He said the agency had consistently demonstrated the spirit of collaboration with the NDLEA.
Mshelia urged others to emulate them.
