The Nigeria Customs Service last weekend handed over 306 containers of National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) equipment recovered from the seaports in Lagos to the Minister of state, Power, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim Kuchi.
The containers have been lying at the APM Terminal in Apapa port since their arrival in the country through Lagos port.

The containers have been lying at the APM Terminal in Apapa port since their arrival in the country through Lagos port.
Making the presentation, the controller in charge of Federal Operation Unit of the Customs Comptroller Dan Ugo, who represented the Customs-Comptroller General at the ceremony, noted that the service will continue to collaborate with the Federal Government in ensuring the success of the transformation of the power sector.
He stated that the service will not relent to source for such abandoned NIPP containers with a view to notifying the presidential taskforce on power.
Receiving the containers relevant documents, the minister thanked the Nigeria Customs Service for the integrity which the service has demonstrated in jealously guarding the recovered equipment.
She reiterated the determination of the Federal Government to solve the epileptic power situation in the country by ensuring that all the recovered equipment are quickly taken to project sites.
The Minister was accompanied by the chairman of the presidential taskforce on power; Engr. Beks Dagogo Jacks, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Derin Awosika and others.
