The Customs Area Controller for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states; Mr Bamidele Akande said yesterday that N52.7 million was collected by the command in June.
Akande; a Comptroller said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.
He said that the command had also intensified efforts in meeting its target by ensuring that all vehicles coming into the country from its area of jurisdictions paid their customs duties.

Akande; a Comptroller said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.
He said that the command had also intensified efforts in meeting its target by ensuring that all vehicles coming into the country from its area of jurisdictions paid their customs duties.
He said that concrete security measures had also been put in place to prevent smuggling, arrest and prosecute smugglers in the area.
The comptroller explained that, all the identified routes of smugglers had been blocked with well- trained personnel deployed to ensure their arrest and prosecution.
Akande appealed for the support of the border communities to avail customs with intelligence reports on the movement of smugglers.
He said that such reports would enable the officers to strategise their mode of operation to apprehend the smugglers.
“We will continue to introduce various forms of security measures that would prevent smuggling activities in our areas of jurisdiction," he said.
He also called on officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best.
The comptroller said “a monitoring team had been constituted to monitor their conduct in ensuring productivity.”
