In a determined effort to bolster Nigeria’s revenue generation and address the persistent issue of revenue leakage, the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has unveiled an innovative partnership with the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) at the Nigeria Customs Headquarters in Abuja.

This collaborative endeavour according to a press statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Maiwada on Tuesday, aims to synchronize strategies and combine resources to optimize the remittance of accrued revenue to the Federal Government.

During the meeting, Chairman Muhammad Shehu Umar and his delegation from RMAFC were warmly received by Ag. CG Customs; Bashir Adeniyi.

The CGC expressed his unwavering commitment to this partnership, emphasizing the shared responsibility to reduce revenue leakage and maximize remittances.

Adeniyi stated that, “it is incumbent upon all of us to work together to minimize revenue leakage and ensure maximum remittance of accrued revenue to the Federal Government.”

He also lauded RMAFC for the persistent efforts to address revenue challenges, highlighting the pivotal role this collaboration could play in achieving their common goals.

Chairman, Muhammad Shehu Umar reciprocated the enthusiasm, congratulating Ag. CGC Adeniyi on his appointment and commended his acceptance of their partnership proposal. Umar reiterated his staunch support for the CGC’s mission to enhance revenue generation, echoing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emphasis on this crucial endeavor.

Moreover, Umar praised the Nigeria Customs Service’s achievements under the leadership of Adeniyi in facilitating nationwide trade, acknowledging that these efforts would catalyze increased revenue generation.

The partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and RMAFC serves to strengthen the nation’s financial stability and mitigate revenue losses, ultimately reinforcing Nigeria’s economic resilience.
