The Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone A, Assistant Comptroller General Bello Jibo, has tasked Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Mohammed Airport Command, to be professional in the discharge of their duties and improve on the core functions of the Service.

The Zonal Coordinator gave the charge during his maiden visit to the Command on Wednesday,

Speaking to Senior Officers during his visit, ACG Jibo commended the recent achievement of the Command, generating N2 billion in one day and N12 billion in a month.

He charged them to be more punctual, upright, and dedicated to the Service in discharge of their responsibilities.

He also relayed the outcome of the recently concluded Comptroller-General of Customs Conference held in Lagos and enumerated the importance of the theme “Leveraging Data Analytics for Secure and Efficient Trade Facilitation in Customs Operations,” laying emphasis on the commitment of the CGC to improve the general welfare of Officers and Men of the Service.

The ACG reminded Officers of the CGC’s policy thrust, which are consolidation, collaboration and innovation, and went further to advocate for the promotion of stakeholder engagements to enable improved trade facilitation and revenue collection.

The Senior Officers of the Command were also advised to ensure proper mentorship of their subordinates, especially the middle cadre personnel.

ACG Jibo charged the Senior Officers to be role models, sources of inspiration and motivation to the younger ones, especially regarding leadership and Management.

“We must ensure that we mentor these young ones so that by the time we go out, we can be proud of this service. Please take them as your own”. ACG Jibo stated.

In the same vein, the ACG also visited Apapa Area Command on Tuesday, 19 December 2023, where he engaged and encouraged the examination Officers at the terminals on adequate supervision as well as proper and professional examination of cargoes.
