In a significant move to boost trade facilitation, the Dala Inland Dry Port (DIDP) has announced a strategic partnership with the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF).

The DIDP, which was officially designated as an Inland Dry Port by the Federal Government in August 2022, faces challenges in gaining full recognition from the Nigeria Customs Service. This currently limits its operations. However, the new partnership with NAGAFF aims to overcome these obstacles and unlock the port’s potential.

Abubakar Bawuro, Chairman of the Dala Inland Dry Port, highlighted the importance of this partnership during NAGAFF’s recent three-day working visit.

Bawuro emphasized the need for cooperation from NAGAFF members, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and consolidators to ensure the port’s success. He called for official recognition of the DIDP as both a Port of Origin and Final Destination and stressed the importance of establishing a command center within the port for efficient operations.

In response, Chairman of NAGAFF’s Technical Group on Cargo Logistics, Chief Patrick Ogbo assured the DIDP of NAGAFF’s dedication to the partnership. He praised the DIDP’s facilities and massive size, expressing confidence in realizing the port’s full potential within the specified timeframe.

“We will engage with stakeholders, including importers, exporters, and trade unions, to achieve the desired outcomes,” Ogbo assured.
