Fairly Used vehicles Gradually Returns At Con oil Filling Station

Following last year raid and eventual sealing- up of the once-popular National Auto Market at the second gate at Tin Can Island where more than 100 units of used vehicles were impounded, there are indications that the auto dealers have returned to the site.
Investigation carried out by Shipping Position Daily, last week revealed that vehicles on sale were already being displaced  in the premises of the filling station called Conoil, but commonly  known as national.

Following last year raid and eventual sealing- up of the once-popular National Auto Market at the second gate at Tin Can Island where more than 100 units of used vehicles were impounded, there are indications that the auto dealers have returned to the site.
Investigation carried out by Shipping Position Daily, last week revealed that vehicles on sale were already being displaced  in the premises of the filling station called Conoil, but commonly  known as national.
Even though the vehicles on display at the premises were not many, dealers have already commenced business.
The once- barricaded container gate has been opened for free exit and entry of vehicular and human traffic even as the naval personnel and other security official were busy with their assigned duties at the port access road, an indication that sale of fairly- used vehicles at the premises has been restored.
Some fairly- used vehicles on sale were seen on display outside the premises of the filling station while the station’s attendants were also on stand by selling petrol to buyers.
Efforts to contact the chairman of the Tin Can Island Motor Dealers for comments on the latest development prove abortive as his telephone number was not reachable, even as at press time.
Sources at the premises told our correspondent that the dealers are still observing the situation at the filling station and that it is not yet clear if they are to come back to do business there or not.
A source who pleaded anonymity however told our correspondent that the hope of retaining the premises for sales of fairly- used vehicles is slim because of certain information which he claimed to have.
It would be recalled that many fairly- used vehicles were seized by men of the Nigerian Navy on December 5, 2011 at  the Tin Can Island Motor Dealers park in Lagos, after a brief noticed for them to vacate the environment.
The raid was carried out by a detachment of naval personnel under the aegis of Lagos Port Access Road Committee [LAPARC] which stormed the premises.
