FFAN Holds Manpower Training Programme This Week

Leading freight forwarding institute in the maritime sub sector, Freight Forwarding Academy of Nigeria [FFAN] is set to hold a two-day training programme aimed at improving the transportation and distribution of oil and gas product in the country.
The programme is scheduled to hold on June 20 and 21, 2012 and is designed to tackle inaccuracy in the oil and gas transportation in the country in a view to streamline the mistakes to various stakeholders in the industry.

The programme is scheduled to hold on June 20 and 21, 2012 and is designed to tackle inaccuracy in the oil and gas transportation in the country in a view to streamline the mistakes to various stakeholders in the industry.
According to the academy, the objective of the training is to proffer solutions to the identified mistake which in turn will lead to strategizing on the way forward.
The manpower development programme is designed for logistics /procurement department of oil and gas organisations, haulage firms, tank farms operators, oil and gas terminal operators, the three tiers of government agencies, members of NARTO, AMARTO and other logistics and transportation outfit.
According to the academy the theme of the exercise is ‘’ Transportation in Oil and Gas Industry: Major Mistake Stakeholders make in freight transportation and distribution of petroleum and their solutions [Operators and government perspectives].”
Justifying the programme, it  also noted that, it has “observed some major mistakes operators make as well as service providers in the industry that adversely affect efficiency and effectiveness in the transportation of oil and gas product in Nigeria and hence affect their profitability .These mistakes occur from both government policies and decisions in the industry and stakeholders strategy in improving efficiency and financial cost’’.
“This crucial industry requires proper and informed management and organizational skills to move special and dangerous cargoes like oil and gas and looking at the Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria you will agree with us that the industry have logistics problem especially in relation to physical distribution and its policy issues.’’
‘’The transportation of oil and gas industry in Nigeria is bedeviled with a lot of unattended bottlenecks and challenges which have lead many operators into making some mistakes which have cost them a fortune’’.
Sub topics for the programme include: Mistakes of oil and gas marketer in freight transportation distribution and the solutions, mistakes of oil and gas freight transporters and their solutions.
Others sub topics are; Mistakes of government and its agencies that is federal, state and local government relating to oil and gas industry and their solutions.
