Even as construction is still ongoing on the ever-busy Apapa- Oshodi expressway, the Federal Ministry of Woks has given automobile sellers on that road the matching orders.
The ministry said that it will begin to impound vehicles parked on the newly- reconstructed kilometre seven portion of the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway as from today (October 16, 2012).
A deputy director in the ministry, Mr Godwin Eke said that the ministry would collaborate with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to impound vehicles illegally parked on the expressway.

A deputy director in the ministry, Mr Godwin Eke said that the ministry would collaborate with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to impound vehicles illegally parked on the expressway.
He gave the warning in Lagos and added that vehicles displayed for sale were still being parked on the road, despite the evacuation notice issued to the car dealers.
“I have told my colleagues to tell the vehicle owners to remove those cars.
“We will talk to LASTMA again, and by Monday, start impounding vehicles that remain parked on the road,“ he said.
The ministry’s South-West Director of Federal Highways, Mr Ejike Mgbemena, had recently assured members of the National Assembly that vehicles parked on the highway would be evacuated before Oct. 12
Mgbemena made the promise when members of the House of Representatives Sub-Committee on Works came to inspect the Oshodi-Apapa expressway road project on Tuesday.
NAN also recalls that the Special Adviser to Gov. Babatunde Fashola on Works and Infrastructure, Mr Ganiyu Johnson, had promised to liaise with other Lagos State officials to stop the indiscriminate parking of vehicles on the highway.
Johnson said that the state government was also working to check the activities of touts that collect illegal levies from car owners that park on the said portion of the highway.
