Shipping Position Daily confirmed last week that the allegation was one of the highpoints of the meeting of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission which held last week in Abuja, and which was presided over by its chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Yelwa.
Prior to last week’s meeting and the eventual verdict, the commission had requested that NIMASA be investigated by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
A copy of the ‘forensic audi’t which was sighted by our correspondent revealed that NIMASA allegedly failed to remit its operating surplus of US$1.99 million and that only a receipt dated May 5, 2009 was shown to the commission on request.
The report commission’s report on NIMASA which was reportedly presented by Director of Policy and Standards; Dr Sylvanus Mordi, alleged further that NIMASA did not submit its audited financial statement between 2007 and 2010
Mordi added that NIMASA ignored requests from the commission to submit its Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2009-2011, 2010-2012, 2011-2013 and 2012-2015.
Our correspondent was told last week that the director-general of NIMASA was invited to defend the agency, he was said to failed to honour the invitation.
