FOU Controller Takes Anti-Smuggling ‘War’ To Seme, Idiroko

Apparently eager to secure the borders against daredevil smugglers, the new Customs Area Controller in charge of Federal Operations Unit (FOU) in Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, Comptroller Dan Ugo has met with his counterparts in Seme and Ogun command of the Service.
Accompanied by top lieutenants, Mr Ugo met separately with the CAC Seme command, comptroller Sahabi, A.S and his counterpart in Ogun command, deputy comptroller Akande, both of whom he solicited their cooperation in the task of fighting smuggling.

Apparently eager to secure the borders against daredevil smugglers, the new Customs Area Controller in charge of Federal Operations Unit (FOU) in Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, Comptroller Dan Ugo has met with his counterparts in Seme and Ogun command of the Service.
Accompanied by top lieutenants, Mr Ugo met separately with the CAC Seme command, comptroller Sahabi, A.S and his counterpart in Ogun command, deputy comptroller Akande, both of whom he solicited their cooperation in the task of fighting smuggling.
The FOU Controller’s first port of call in the inter- state visit which tookj a whole day was the popular Agbara joint checkpoint where he was received by the Seme border customs controller  who was accompanied by members of his management team.
The CAC FOU ‘A’ told the customs officers to rededicate themselves to the service of their fatherland, especially in view of the expectations of the service in the areas of revenue collection, suppression of smuggling, facilitation of trade as well as strict implementation of the federal government’s fiscal policies.
He also enjoined officers to embrace the new spirit of partnership with their colleagues and major stakeholders to ensure the actualization of the mission and vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Abdullahi Inde Dikko, as encapsulated in his six points Agenda.
 In his own remarks, the CAC Seme command praised the courage of the CAC FOU, whom he described as a versatile and seasoned officer and also thanked his counterpart for counting him worthy of his first visit and assured him of his commands readiness to collaborate with the FOU ‘A’ in the task of ensuring that our borders are tight .
At Agbara, the team also visited the patrol points of other security agencies, namely: Police, NDLEA, Quarantine and Immigration where the CAC solicited their collaboration with the Customs in the areas of security in view of the security challenges facing the nation.
On arrival at the Idirioko border, the CAC FOU ‘A’ and his entourage was received by the Ag. Controller Ogun State Command who thanked the controller for the visit which he described as a thoughtful venture.
DC Akande assured the visiting CAC FOU ‘A’ that his command is determined to ensure the realization of the revenue target given to it by the service and also assured his visitor of Idiroko command’s readiness to always synergize with FOU ‘A’ officers when necessary for optimal results.
The CAC FOU ‘A’ in his response enjoined the command to see the officers from FOU ‘A’ as partners in the project of policing the borders and ensuring that smuggling activities are reduced to the barest minimum, even as he reiterated his resolve to work assiduously in ensuring a high level of deterrence in smuggling which he stated will give the command a comparative advantage in revenue collection.
He reminded the officers that the Customs Comptroller General  and his management team has been doing well in the past two years, especially in areas of staff remuneration, motivation, capacity building and provision of conducive working environment which is unprecedented in the history of the service.
He admonished the officers to reciprocate these gestures by re-doubling their efforts for the task ahead.
The FOU boss was accompanied on the visit by the D/C Enforcement, Onigbanjo, L.O; A/C Operations, Agbara, O.M; the deputy staff officer, SC ABDULLAHI, D.L and the commands image maker ASCI Uche Ejesieme.
