FREIGHT FORWARDERS SHOWER PRAISES ON CRFFN

A cross section of freight forwarders has commended current efforts of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) for its current efforts to carry different stakeholders along in its various programmes.

They specifically commended the Registrar, Sir Mike Jukwe for creating a new direction for the Council.

Speaking to Shipping Position Weekly correspondents Dapo Olawuni and Nike Laguda, the freight forwarders who are mainly members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), National Association of Government Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) expressed satisfaction with the current registration of freight forwarders.

They also singled out the recently concluded stakeholders awareness which held in Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt as quite innovative and populist.

According to Mr Danjuma Imoudu, the assistant secretary general of Apapa chapter of ANLCA, “the registration exercise is a welcome move, it is the right thing to do in the sense that all professions are being regulated by a body and it is a good thing for us to also have a body to regulate our profession”.

Speaking in the same vein, the publicity secretary of NAGAFF, Mr Uche Increase
said: “I wish to commend them; the way the design of the form is done is simple and direct with not too much question. I believe the council is treating all associations equally, the registration is done individually and through companies, I don’t believe there are problems, the treatment given to everyone is fair”.

As far as Mazi Joseph Anabaraonye, the Registrar of Institute of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (FFAN) is concerned the Council is on the right track while the on going registration is commendable. “I can say that the Council is on course and so far it is doing the right thing, as far as that is being done, there will be less agitation. You know that nothing can be too perfect in the beginning, but for now I can give them a pass mark; especially on registration and the reform of the freight forwarding practice which will eventually be better for the industry”, he stressed.
