Following the scarcity of petroleum product that is being experienced in the country, petroleum marketers as well as their petroleum tanker drivers are now revving up their activities at the tank farms situated in Kirikiri axis of Apapa Lagos to get petroleum product which have been confirmed to be available at the tank farms in large volumes.

Shipping Position Daily investigation around the tank farm last week revealed that there has been a steady rise in the number of petroleum trucks that are visiting the tank farms scattered around the Kirikiri area even as it was confirmed that activities around the depots have increased due to the steady availability of product at the depot.
Officials of the five petroleum tank farms in the area confirmed to our correspondent that they have not experienced any form of scarcity and that products have always been available at their tank farms.
A source told our correspondent at one of the depot that “you can see that everybody is loading products, this place has always been busy since”.
According to the loading manifest of one of the tank farms, Swift Oil; which was sighted by our correspondent, the tank farm had between 30th and 31st October 2012 loaded 370 trucks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) which shows a sharp increase compared to what the company used to load.
In addition to this, the company last week received an addition cargo onboard a vessel known as ‘Principle Trader’.
Apart from this, a document obtained from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) also shows that another tank farm; Index Petroleum, which has not been operating optimally in recent times, also played host to three vessels last week; SP Brussels, Dani1 and Mintra 3.
The vessels were loaded with Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) known as kerosene and Automated Gas Oil (AGO) also known as diesel.
