Two robbers boarded an anchored bulk carrier. Alarm raised and crew mustered. Seeing the crew alertness, the robbers escaped with stolen ship’s properties and stores. Incident reported to the Harbour Master and Coast Guard via local agent.
23.01.2022: 0040 UTC: Posn: 12:00.8S – 077:12.8W, Callao Anchorage, Peru.
Three unidentified persons boarded an anchored bulk carrier. General alarm was raised, and crew mustered. Upon hearing the alarm and seeing the alerted crew, the unauthorised persons escaped. A search was made throughout the ship. Nothing reported stolen. Incident reported to TRAMAR and the port authority boarded the ship for investigation.
23.01.2022: 0025 UTC: Posn: Luanda Anchorage, Angola.
Two robbers boarded an anchored crew boat, stole ships equipment and escaped with their accomplices in a canoe. Port authorities notified.
ACCIDENTS:
Egyptian freighter beached, broke in two in stormy Med
General cargo ship MANASSA ROSE M ran aground in the morning Jan 25 on northwest Crete island coast in Kissamos Bay, while en route from Iskenderun Turkey to Misrata Libya. According to not yet confirmed reports, the ship broke in two, understood weather is the main cause of the disaster – ship apparently, tried to find a shelter from a storm, but either went out of control, or couldn’t hold on against wind and sea, and finally, ran aground on the beach. 10 crew were rescued, 2 of them reportedly had to be hospitalize with hypothermia. She’s loaded with cargo of steel.
Tanker sank in gulf of Siam, oil leak reported
Product tanker POR ANDAAN 2 sank in the evening Jan 22 in Gulf of Siam 62 nm north of Koh Samui island, Thailand, cause unclear. 6 crew rescued, all are safe. Tanker has some 450-500 tons of fuel on board, oil leak occurred. Stain some 10 kilometers long, up to 200 meters wide, reported drifting in northern direction, but it’s a thin oil film, expected to dissolve naturally. Thai Navy is monitoring stain drift, and situation in wreckage are.
Russian Chief Engineer missing, Black sea
Russian Chief Engineer of general cargo ship KARELIS 71 fell overboard on Jan 26 in Black sea some 10 nm off Turkish coast, while the ship was en route from Gemlik port, Turkey, Marmara sea, to Temryuk, Russia. The ship anchored at Bartin anchorage, for SAR and for investigation. Understood man wasn’t found, helicopter and rescue boats were deployed in SAR, hampered by adverse weather. KARELIS 71 resumed voyage.
