The Association of West African Exporters and Maritime Professionals (AWAEMAP) has urged the newly- appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr. Abubakar Dantsoho to prioritize collaboration and operational excellence in his new role.

In an official statement signed by the President of the association, Olubunmi Olumekun, the group extended its felicitations to Mr. Dantsoho on his appointment, even as it stated that it marks a significant moment for Nigeria’s maritime sector.  He stressed that the association is confident that Mr. Dantsoho’s extensive expertise and forward-thinking approach will be instrumental in advancing the industry.

Olumekun maintained that as Mr. Dantsoho begins his tenure, AWAEMAP emphasizes the importance of engaging with all maritime stakeholders. The association called for an open and cooperative dialogue to address industry challenges and enhance operational efficiency.

By fostering a collaborative environment, AWAEMAP believes that Nigeria can achieve smoother export processes, which will contribute to the nation’s economic growth and improve its position in global trade.

AWAEMAP also urged the new NPA MD to focus on initiatives that will drive economic development and elevate Nigeria’s maritime capabilities. Enhancing port operations and services is seen as crucial to strengthening the country’s competitive edge in the international market.

The association reaffirms its readiness to support Mr. Dantsoho’s efforts and looks forward to a productive partnership. AWAEMAP remains committed to working closely with the NPA to ensure that the maritime sector benefits from strategic improvements and innovation under the new leadership.

Olumekun informed that the AWAEMAP is dedicated to advancing the interests of exporters and maritime professionals throughout West Africa. Through advocacy, training, and partnerships, AWAEMAP aims to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the maritime sector.
