ICNL Diversifies Into Full Shipping Operations —Official

The management of Inland Containers Nigeria Limited (ICNL) has revealed that the company is diversifying into a full shipping operations.

Speaking with Shipping Position Daily last week, the Business Development Manager of ICNL, Mr. Olugbenga  Owolabi revealed that the company is evolving into practically doing shipping business alongside its bonded operations, while stating that the establishment of the shipping company will also generate income for the Government.

He said many of its customers have been demanding that the company go into core shipping as this will help their stakeholders and different consignees who will be bringing in their cargoes through the various channels of the ICNL.

“For 40 years, we have been doing business in Nigeria, we have basically concentrated on the bonded aspect of the maritime sector, developing the hinterland for people who do not have close contact with the seaside

“We are evolving into practically doing shipping business alongside bonded operations, a lot of our customers have asked us in this regards and will feel the time its right for us to involve into a full shipping business, so we have aligned with our overseas partners in that regards
 
“In terms of the effect on our inland terminals in Kano, Kaduna and the other ones that we propose to have in different parts of the country, its spilling effect in terms of more revenue to both the state and federal government and then assurance to the stakeholders and different consignees who will be bringing in their cargoes via ICNL”, he said.
