Insecurity: Port Police Orders For More Dogs

In a bid to enhance its patrol of the ports and its water front, the port Police command has ordered for more dogs with a view to check mating crimes in the port industry.
Disclosing this in Lagos recently, the Port Police Commissioner; Mrs  Ibifuro Harrison said that the command will take delivery of the dogs before the end of the year adding that there is a limited number of dogs.
According to the port Police command boss. the command presently has less than twenty dogs adding that each terminal should have at least five dogs patrolling each  terminal.

According to the port Police command boss. the command presently has less than twenty dogs adding that each terminal should have at least five dogs patrolling each  terminal.
She said “They are probably not enough, but we have them, the canine section and all the dogs are out every morning but I can always tell you that logistics can never be enough.
“We must maintain the ones we have and ensure that we use them effectively and efficiently.
“For now we have less than twenty, I know that some have been ordered for and we are waiting to take delivery hopefully before the end of the year”.
The Police boss explained that logistics cannot be enough adding that the few dogs available in the Command must be maintained for effective use.
“The erstwhile Commissioner of Police Mr. Kayode Aderanti worked hard to ensure that the Western Command of the port police was secured, it is our constitutional reasonability.
“We have a mandate and the directive is to protect lives and properties  and there is so much to do in the Western port , so we have to work 24 hours  a day and seven days a to ensure that the entire port industry is secured.
 “Thank God that for the month and a few days that I have been here no attack has been recorded, but will continue to ensure that we patrol and act on information, perform our surveillance duty and ensure that attacks on vessels at the jetties and terminals do not occu”r. She added
