The 2023 International Day for Women in Maritime holds tomorrow; Thursday May 18.
The special day for women in the maritime sector holds each year to celebrate women working across the maritime industry.
This year’s theme is: “Mobilizing networks for gender equality”.
To commemorate the day, a global conference of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Women in Maritime Associations (WIMAs) is taking place at IMO Headquarters on 18 and 19 May 2023.
According to the IMO, the day celebrates women in the industry and promotes the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector.
The day also raises the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime.
