The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has expressed concern with the worsening fuel situation in the South East.
The Chairman of the Enugu Zone of the association, Chief Linus Mgbakaogu, in an interview with the newsmen in Awka last week, regretted that fuel supply to the marketers in the zone had not improved in spite of repeated appeals.
Mgbakaogu noted that the pump price of the product had increased considerably above the approved price due to its scarcity.

He said that marketers in the zone had continued to struggle to survive in the business and urged the NNPC to live up to its promise to revive the  Emene petroleum products depot in Enugu.
“Nothing has changed in terms of product supply to the South East, in fact it has gone worse and marketers are just managing to stay in business.
“We are only hoping that the Enugu depot which has been out of use due to breakdown for about six years can be revived to reduce the suffering of the masses,’’ he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of IPMAN in Anambra, Chief Osita Ofodile, said the situation had affected the marketers in the state adversely as most of them mainly relied on Lagos depots.
Ofodile said that supply had been grossly inadequate, adding that the shortage and cost of transportation from Lagos had resulted in high pump prices.
He called on the NNPC to flood the market with the product, pointing out that it was through adequate supply that price hike could naturally be eliminated.
