There has been a steady progression in the importation of vehicles into the nation's seaports in the first quarter of 2013 as a total of 21,474 units of both used and new vehicles country were imported into the country through the Lagos ports alone.

Statistics issued by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) revealed that the month of March recorded the highest volume of importation of vehicles as a total of 12,535 units comprising of both new and used vehicles were received. February on the other hand witnessed a total of 9,735 units of vehicles while January had the least units of 9,204.
Shipping Position Daily gathered that a total of 33 vessels sailed into the ports in Lagos with vehicles in the month of March and Five Star Logistics Terminal handled a total of 15 of such vessels loaded with vehicles, closely followed by Ports and Terminals Multiservices Limited (PTML) which had 14 vessels.
Another fast rising terminal; Standard Flour Mills, handled three vessels laden with vehicles, followed by Greenview Development Nigeria Limited (GDNL) which handled one vessel laden with truck heads.
The document by NPA also disclosed that Five Star Logistics terminal recorded the highest number of imported vehicles; a total of 7,382 units made it to the terminal, while PTML handled a total of 3,200 units of unclassified vehicles.
Standard Flour Mill recorded 1485 units of used vehicles while, Greenview Development Nigeria Limited (GDNL) recorded 468 units of vehicles at the Lagos Ports Complex.
