Despite the federal government move to ban the importation of polish wheat into the country, the Lagos port and the Tin Can Island port both handled a total of 291,125 metric tonnes of commodity in March.
Statistics from the Nigeria Port Authority [NPA] indicate that Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited [ABTL] recorded the highest metric tonnes of 183,731 of the commodity.

Statistics from the Nigeria Port Authority [NPA] indicate that Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited [ABTL] recorded the highest metric tonnes of 183,731 of the commodity.
However, six vessels came into the ABTL with the commodity in March, they are: MV Atlantic Eagle which came in with the highest volume of 55,600 metric tonnes of wheat on the 23rd of March, Spring Hawk came in with 48,300 metric tonnes on the 7th, Desert Melody came in with 30,331 metric tonnes on the 18th of the same month.
Other vessels that made it to the Apapa Bulk Terminal include: Labrador with 27,500 on the 5th, Desert Hope with 10,324 metric tonnes on the 8th and MV Confiance which came with 12,000 on the 25th of last month.
According to the document given to Shipping Position Daily, Josepdam terminal came second with 77,350 metric tonnes of wheat loaded in three ships arrived the terminal. MV Genco Progress came in with the highest volume; 27,350 metric tonnes on the 31st of March while Alma and a vessel called Desert Peace both came in with 25,000 metric tonnes each.
Green view Development Nigeria Limited [GDNL] and Standard Flour Mills [SFM] both handled one vessel each with a combined tonnage of 30,020 metric tonnes.
A vessel called Genco Auverge came with 4,300 on the 27th while Dimitris S. came in with 25,700 metric tonnes of wheat on the 6th of March.
