After what appears like an endless wait, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is set to unleash its enforcement machineries on erring registered freight forwarding practitioners who may have defied certain ethical standards that had been set out by the council.
This disclosure was part of the highpoints of a top-level meeting between the Registrar of the Council; Sir Mike Jukwe and leaders of the registered freight forwarding associations as well as members of the Freight Forwarders Consultative Forum (FFCF).

Sources informed Shipping Position Daily, that the meeting was specifically called by the registrar “to receive, discuss and adopt reports of its committees on Billing System/Template and harmonized standard service charges as well as categorization of freight forwarders and standard trading conditions for registered freight forwarders in Nigeria”.
The registrar reportedly told the gathering which also included the national presidents of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, Prince Olayiwola Shittu and his National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, Mr Eugene Nweke that the enforcement arm of the CRFFN is already in place and ready to start work as soon as the committees’ work and recommendations have been given official seal.
The registrar was also reported to have assured the meeting which was attended by leaders of other associations (registered and unregistered) that no qualified association would be denied registration. He assured that once the criteria are met, such associations would be registered.
Shipping Position Daily recalls that one of the affected associations; Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN) has been having a running battle with some of the associations that have already been registered over issues bordering on registration.
Coincidentally, the president of AREFFN; Dr Frank Ukoh was also invited to the Wednesday meeting which held in Apapa, Lagos.
