Magazine Honours Port Manager Alabi, Others

The South-South International Magazine has honoured the Port Harcourt port manager, Mr. Dele Alabi as the best Port Manager in Nigeria in 2011.
 The Editor-in-chief of the Magazine, Mr. Ovie Edomi who announced the nomination during the 5th Annual awards/Lecture at the Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt recently explained that the award is in recognition of meritorious service to the development of the country at different capacity.

The South-South International Magazine has honoured the Port Harcourt port manager, Mr. Dele Alabi as the best Port Manager in Nigeria in 2011.
 The Editor-in-chief of the Magazine, Mr. Ovie Edomi who announced the nomination during the 5th Annual awards/Lecture at the Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt recently explained that the award is in recognition of meritorious service to the development of the country at different capacity.
He applauded the contributions of Mr. Alabi to the growth and development of Port Harcourt port. “We believe that as pressmen, we have a duty to contribute to national development, just like other Nigerians through developmental journalism”, Mr. Edomi stated.
He said that the award to the persons is to recognise the fact that in spite of the moral decays in the country, there are still many upright men with strong patriotic spirit. He noted that the award is aimed at identifying such unique individuals in the public and private sector.
 “Nine people were being honoured today and I want to say that the award was not bought and is not for sale. It is an honour that is well deserved and we urge all the recipients to continue in their good works”, the TSSI publisher stated.
In a speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief A. K. Horsfall commended the organization for its gesture and urged them to select their award winners strictly based on merit and credibility.
In an interview, Mr. Alabi, one of the award winners expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing his humble contribution at the Port Harcourt ports. He said the award will spur him to do more.
Others who were honoured by TSSI include, Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, Director General of NIMASA, Chief Isaac Jolapamo, President Indigenous Ship Owners Association of Nigeria, and Mr. Joshua Okpo, Acting Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, among others.
