APAPA TRAFFIC BACKLASH: Prostitution Flourishes As Truck Drivers Now Have Sex Inside Containers

Investigations have revealed that there is a high rate of prostitution going on in Apapa, right in the ever -present traffic gridlock, as truck drivers now have sex inside containers laden on their trucks while awaiting entrance into the terminals.

Our correspondents have been inundated with several reports of the escapades of randy truck drivers, motor boys and prostitutes dug into the lifestyle of the truck drivers.

Shipping Position Daily correspondent who personally witnessed one of such scenes confirmed that instead of regular prostitutes, the ‘business’  is perpetrated by female food hawkers and vendors, who wantonly and brazenly collect money for sex from truck drivers.

Speaking with our correspondent after one of their colleague led a girl into the container, one of the truck drivers who refused to give his name confessed that truck drivers have no choice than to engage in this act, because they are mostly away from their families for a long time.

He confirmed that, "some of these girls are just ‘helping’ us, and we pay them well, it is not easy to be away from home for so long, 'as body no be firewood', we need to arrange ourselves", he said.

Another driver who simply identified himself as Kelvin lamented that since the federal government has failed to find a lasting solution to the Apapa traffic gridlock, truck drivers now use containers as their homes where they sleep and engage in most activities.

Kelvin recounted how one of his colleagues died inside a container as a result of hunger and malaria.

"The soldiers had collected all his money, he and the motor boy could not move, there was no money to eat,  so he developed malaria, this is because we are always sleeping inside the container"

"Before the motor boy could go and look for money to get drugs and food,  the driver had died", he told our correspondent.

In separate interviews, two frontline clearing agents also confirmed to Shipping Position Daily that the drivers usually have sex in containers, bath and defecate on the Apapa expressway.

He said: "The women they sleep with are those selling herbal concoctions; I wanted to take a picture of one of the scenes the other day at Second Raibow bus stop, the driver was begging me not to. The second rainbow area has now become like a market"

"They are also human beings, it is just because of the irresponsible way of doing things by our government agencies, if the road is good,  there is no way the containers would be there"

"The drivers also know how to pay well, they have girlfriends in almost every area they visit", another clearing agent said.
