As part of measures to ensure adequate knowledge and manpower development in the maritime sector, the Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders Importers and Exporters Coalition, has said that it hopes to establish a six month training programme in the United Kingdom for members.
National coordinator of the group, Chief Osita Chukwu disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos recently about plans to training its members said that it is the only way to empower those that are part of the team.
As part of measures to ensure adequate knowledge and manpower development in the maritime sector, the Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders Importers and Exporters Coalition, has said that it hopes to establish a six month training programme in the United Kingdom for members.
National coordinator of the group, Chief Osita Chukwu disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos recently about plans to training its members said that it is the only way to empower those that are part of the team.
According to him, the training will be handled in batches whereby 10 of the association’s members will travel to Britain to gain a broader knowledge about the day to day port operation and the maritime industry in general.
He noted that every six months, 10 of his members will be trained on various courses in the maritime industry.
‘’The training we are trying to embark on is that every six months 10 members will be trained after that they will come back back, then another set will travel for the same programme’’.
‘’Some of the courses that members will benefit from are: Port Management, shipping Management, Port Administration, Information Technology, and other maritime courses and the maritime press will also benefit from the training courses, he said.
According to him, the internal arrangements for the training has commenced with a yet- to- be disclosed institute in Liverpool, UK, but the group expressed optimism about the programmes.
Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the group added that he is on his way to the United Kingdom for the proper arrangement on the training programmes for his members.
However, the date of the commencement of the program is yet to disclosed by the coordinator of the group, but he assured that the it will commence in 2012.
