• NIMASA, Nigerian Navy Unaware of Attack
• Corpses of Slain Officers Taken To Mortuary
“This is a disgrace, do we really have Navy of NIMASA in this country, you won’t believe that it is the French Navy that came to the rescue of the remaining crew”.
That was how a source at Unicent Shipping; the shipping agents to the two ships that were attacked on Sunday and Monday reacted when our correspondent finally reached the distraught company yesterday.

Our findings are that the two ships are Chinese, were laden with rice, their identities are: Asian Prosperity and Four Sew SW.
Shipping Position Daily confirmed yesterday that the corpses of the Captain and the Chief Engineer who were killed by the pirates early on Monday on board Four Seas SW have been moved to an undisclosed mortuary, even as the Embassy of Indian and Taiwan have also been contacted in preparation to moving the corpses back to the deceased countries.
A source at Unicent also confirmed yesterday that the most surprising thing was that while that attacks were going on, no rescue was forthcoming. This corroborates what the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) said yesterday in response to the attacks.
“It was the French Navy that gave them a hand and assisted them up to 50 nautical miles, but then the pirates have had their ways, and the Captain and the Chief Engineer had been killed”, our source disclosed, even as he added that the pirates must have come with sophisticated boats, because according to him, there is no way a small boat would have been able to navigate its way from that place ashore.
The source also added that in the case of the second ship; Asian Prosperity, she was attacked while on her way into Lagos harbours and, that she was riddled with bullets, while every valuable on board the ship were carted away by the pirates.
The corpses were removed from the ship early yesterday morning by relevant government agencies, including NIMASA and Port Health and the shipping agents.
