For the sake of convenience, safety of other valuables and to avoid dent on vehicles imported into the country through the seaports, the Tin Can Island Motor Dealers Association have said that most of the vehicles sold at its park are containerized.
The dealers said that most of vehicles that are for sale find their ways to the park after being removed from containers and this has been the tradition from the inception of the park.

Some of the dealers and importers who spoke to our correspondent last week revealed that they prefer to import their vehicles in containers in preference for the RORO ports in Lagos.
An importer, Ifeanyichukwu Agu explained that at the RORO port, it takes longer days to clear vehicles out of the terminal compared to the container terminal.
According to him, the a 40-foot container can accommodate three vehicles old or new and can leave the terminal at once but for the RORO terminals of Five Star Logistics and the Port and Terminal Multiservice Limited [PTML],it is unlikely.
Although the importer said that, some of the vehicles at the park are also from the two RORO terminals at the Tin can Island port and Standard Flour Mills, but it is obvious that most the vehicles sold at the park are removed from containers.
He added that ‘’ containerized vehicles are more secured from vandals and thieves, than when it is cleared from the RORO ports’’.
In a similar reaction, Mr. Cosmos Chidi a dealer said it is a tradition on the part of those who sell vehicles at the park because 70 per cent of the vehicles are containerized.
Chidi stressed that importing vehicles in container pays them more.
According to him, the park has the largest number of containerized vehicles for sale compared to any park where vehicles are sold.
He also believed that the proximity of the Lagos seaport plays a predominant role in how containerized vehicles are common in the park.
