The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has assured that members of the association will support the Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) command, Mr Banji Akinloye to ensure that the command meets its objectives.
Giving this assurance last week, the founder of the association, Dr Boniface Aniebonam commended the CAC for taking the bull by the horn by meeting with stakeholders in his determination to ensure that the command enjoys patronage.
Dr Aniebonam who was flanked by chieftains of NAGAFF, including its national president, Mr Eugene Nweke acknowledged that the nation’s seaports were already experiencing the much- expected 48- hour cargo delivery target.
He however noted that it has not been achieved totally because some consignments are still not followed with correct declaration by their importers.
According to him, while it is still very difficult for most consignments to enjoy smooth clearance because of irregularities in their documentations, it is possible for some importers to take delivery within 48 hours through the fast track system.
Speaking in the same vein, the KLT, Customs boss called on importers and their clearing agents to embrace honest declaration so as to enjoy positive profiling by the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) and get their consignments delivered more promptly.
“We appeal that you make true declaration, because through this declaration in the ASYCUDA, system profiling is being done”, he advised.
