Barely a month after it decided to widen its horizon in the Northern part of the country, specifically in Katsina State and the popular Jibia border, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) says it has so far recorded 600 members as freight forwarders in that area.
Founder of the association, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam disclosed this last week at the Tin CanIsland port in Lagos when he visited the newly-appointed chairman of the Tin Can chapter of the association, Mr. Uche Nwabude.

Dr. Aniebonam said that the association now has a vibrant secretariat in the north and that its affairs are being coordinated by Maikuri Aziz as chairman of the North.
Apart from this, the NAGAFF founder reiterated that the association is still following up closely on the case involving a senior officer at the Tin Can command of the Nigeria Customs Service; Mrs Jane Shoboki, who last year allegedly invaded the NAGAFF secretariat with armed soldiers and allegedly vandalized its properties.
He stated unequivocally that the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Inde has not handled the matter the way he is expected to have handled it and he also demanded an explanation from the Customs CG on the action so far taken on the case.
“He should be able to tell us the particular action he has taken over this issue since it happened” he said.
Apart from NAGAFF, he pointed out that the Human Rights Commission is also interested in the case and that the hatchet has not yet been buried fully.
“The honorable thing for you to do as a human being is to come up and say ‘I am sorry’ when you identified that you have done something wrong, because your husband is a General in the Army does not mean that we should all run out of Lagos State” Aniebonam stated.
Speaking on the reason for the change of baton at the Tincan chapter of the association, Dr. Aniebonam explained that the removal of the former chairman; Mr. Jude Maduka was not as a result of his failure, but as a way of giving him a higher responsibility.
But, while speaking at the event, the new Tincan chairman, Mr. Uche Nwabude said that the former chairman was removed because his best was simply not enough and that he did not measure up to the expectations of NAGAFF members.
“Let me also apologize to all practitioners who have in one way or the other been disappointed by the way our great association has been piloted since, the redeployed chairman Forwarder Jude Maduka tried his best, but we all know that his best was not good enough to the aims and objectives of NAGAFF” he said.
It would also be recalled that this is the second time NAGAFF has removed a serving chairman of one of its chapter, the former chairman of the PTML Chapter, Mr. Ugochukwu Nnadi was also removed last year and made the Deputy Vice President on seaport and terminal operators.
