In a significant operation targeting illicit drug activities, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made substantial strides in Kaduna State, seizing a staggering 1,458.709 kilograms of various illicit substances during the month of December.
Shuaibu Omale, the NDLEA’s Press Officer, stated that the operation, executed by the Command , has successfully curtailed the spread of dangerous substances within the region.
He informed that the confiscated items encompass a wide spectrum of illicit drugs, ranging from highly addictive narcotics like cocaine and heroin to cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances.
He said the seized narcotics not only represent a significant blow to the criminal networks involved but also serve as a testament to the vigilance and effectiveness of the NDLEA in safeguarding communities from the devastating impact of substance abuse.
In addition to the substantial quantity of confiscated drugs, he informed that the Command has apprehended 103 individuals as part of its broader crackdown on drug-related offenses. The arrested suspects include not only drug traffickers but also dealers and users, reflecting the agency’s determination to disrupt every facet of the illicit drug trade chain.
He added that the multi-faceted operation underscores the NDLEA’s holistic approach to combating drug-related crimes, focusing not only on intercepting and confiscating illicit substances but also on apprehending those responsible for their distribution and consumption.
