New FOU Zone ‘C’ Controller; Victor Dimka Reads Riot Act

Barely 24 hours after he was redeployed to head the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘C’ of the Nigeria Customs Service with head office in Owerri, Imo state, the new Controller; Mr Victor Dimka has read the riot act to erring officers to shape up or be booted out.
Speaking while taking over from his predecessor in office, Mr Mohammed Biu,  Dimka, who was posted from the Customs headquarters in Abuja however solicited the cooperation of the members of staff of the unit for better service.

Barely 24 hours after he was redeployed to head the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘C’ of the Nigeria Customs Service with head office in Owerri, Imo state, the new Controller; Mr Victor Dimka has read the riot act to erring officers to shape up or be booted out.
Speaking while taking over from his predecessor in office, Mr Mohammed Biu,  Dimka, who was posted from the Customs headquarters in Abuja however solicited the cooperation of the members of staff of the unit for better service.
He promised to do his best to maintain the cordial relationship established by his predecessor with the officers of the zone.
Assuring that, “any officer that is hard working will be encouraged”, he also threatened that any one that is weak will be dealt with.
Speaking earlier at the handing over ceremony, the former Zone ‘C’ Controller, Mr Mohammed Biu said that the zone recorded tremendous success in seizures of assorted contrabands and dutiable goods in the first two months of the year.
He said the unit has so far recorded seizures of Duty Paid Value (DPV) worth N3 million in 2013, a development he said enhanced the achievements of the command.
Biu noted that the level of discipline in the command had improved while officers became more committed to their duty.
“Lateness to work and unnecessary travelling have reduced, officers are now punctual to work and maintain neatness in dressing,” he said.
He advised his successor to train more officers for more efficient service delivery and maintain the good relationship with them.
“You have to carry along the project of relocating the office to a befitting place. Try to follow it up to see that your officers get a place before the middle of this year,” he added.
Meanwhile, Biu has been transferred to Oyo/Osun Command with the headquarters in Ibadan.
Dimka, a versatile anti-smuggling officer was in a similar position at the FOU, Zone ‘A’ in Lagos where he was reputed to have accounted for unprecedented seizures in the history of the unit.
