Again the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) restated her commitment to Public Private Partnership, (PPP), in its quest to effectively harness the nation’s maritime potentials. This was the focal thrust of the agency’s message to participants at the year 2010 G8 African Business Forum which took place in London.
Director General of the agency, Mr. Temi Omatseye, who was represented by the executive director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Adeniran Aderogba highlighted in his presentation tagged “Maritime Opportunities & Transport Infrastructure in Nigeria” the achievements recorded in the nation’s maritime sector and the impact of private public partnership towards national growth.
He also noted that the summit has provided a platform for different countries in the G8 to come together and exchange views and ideas on issues that affect the growth and development of African nations and source for solutions and better practice that will be of mutual benefits to nations.
He used the platform to showcase the activities of NIMASA as the nation’s flag administration in charge of Nigerian Maritime Security, Safety and Protection of Marine Environment. He also highlighted the huge exciting opportunities inherent in the Nigerian maritime sector which includes; ship building, ship repairs, ship demolition and ship recycling facilities, port and inland transportation infrastructure such as railroad and inland water haulage, logistics and distribution parks, training and educational facilities among others.
The award ceremony was organized by the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and over 500 African ministers, ambassadors, government officials and top business leaders from all regions of Africa were celebrated for their achievements and commitment towards the development of the continent.
