Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Mr Omar Suleiman has declared that his mission is to move the Nigerian Ports Authourity to the next level and make Nigerian ports to become the most competitive in the West and Central Africa sub- region.
This pledge was made by the Managing Director when he was hosted to a gala night ceremony by the Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Muritala Nyako.
He stressed that the management of NPA is irrevocably committed to improving the level of efficiency and the turnaround time of vessels in the nation’s seaports.
“In making the Nigerian Ports the envisioned hub of West and Central African Sub region, a number of measures would soon be rolled out which would make our ports the most attractive, he added”.
Earlier, the Chief host, Governor Nyako had commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for appointing one of their sons as the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority and believed that the Federal Government’s choice of Omar Suleiman was guided by merit as right from his school days the Managing Director has been known to be intelligent, diligent and hardworking.
He however admonished Omar Suleiman not to listen to praise- singers whose advice are often based on selfish motives but to rely on the wise counsel of colleagues and elders.
Meanwhile the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa equally appreciated President Goodluck Jonathan for the appointment of Omar Suleiman and said that the choice was appropriate as Omar Suleiman is respectful, humble and hard working.
He said this at the courtesy visit paid him by the new Managing Director.
The gala night which featured musical and cultural displays also had in attendance the Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, members of the state executive council, service commanders and very senior government officials.
