The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello-Koko, alongside the Satellite Truck Park Owners Association of Nigeria (STPOAN), hosted a grand reception in honour of Mr. Ayo Durowaiye, the brain behind the Eto Call-Up System operated by the NPA.
Durowaiye who recently retired from the NPA as a General Manager in charge of the MD’s office, also served as the Chairman of the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) for the Eto Call-Up System, a concept developed during his tenure as General Manager Operations under the administration of former NPA boss Hadiza Bala Usman.
At the reception held in Lagos, Bello-Koko, represented by Apapa Port Manager Mr. Charles Bamidele Okaga, praised the impact of the Eto Call-Up system on port access road conditions. He highlighted Durowaiye’s pivotal role in the system’s development and implementation, stating, “Mr. Durowaiye is known for many firsts in NPA, including the establishment of the E-call up system. He drove the system from conceptualization to inception, stability, and sustenance.”
Bello-Koko emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining the system, remarking, “We all strive to ensure the legacy Durowaiye left behind does not collapse. The current and previous Managing Directors of NPA hold him in high esteem due to his intellectuality, official commitment, and dutifulness.”
The NPA boss also expressed gratitude to STPOAN for organizing the celebration, calling it an unprecedented initiative in the industry. “The initiative taken by this association is one we feel indebted to as an authority. This gathering represents an assembly of people who are part of history.”
Bola Muse, who also spoke at the event, encouraged other park owners to join STPOAN, stating, “those who have not joined our association or registered, you have seen us and know our capabilities. Kindly join the success story and get onboard the moving train.”
In his response, Ayo Durowaiye thanked all who contributed to the Eto Call-Up system’s success and expressed gratitude to the MD of NPA for providing him the opportunity to showcase his abilities. He said, “When we started this project, everyone played an important role in achieving the stability we have today. I thank you for recognizing me as the arrowhead, but without the other parts of the body, it would have been difficult to achieve our feats.”
Durowaiye also appreciated STPOAN and the MD of NPA for their continued support, adding, “This association is a very strategic part of the success. As we have handed over the baton at NPA, I urge those remaining to elevate this work further. Despite the challenges the authority faces, I am confident in the abilities of those currently in place.”
