Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin, has called for long term jail sentence for vandals of petroleum pipelines.
He made the call recently in Lagos in an interview with newsmen.
Abolurin, who spoke during an inspection of the headquarters of the agency’s Lagos State Area Command in Ikeja, said that long term jail sentence would help to curtail the act.
“Government should take decisive action to flush out vandals as they are destroying the country’s economy and depleting its revenue.

Abolurin, who spoke during an inspection of the headquarters of the agency’s Lagos State Area Command in Ikeja, said that long term jail sentence would help to curtail the act.
“Government should take decisive action to flush out vandals as they are destroying the country’s economy and depleting its revenue.
“If the vandals are sentenced to about 17 to 25 years prison term, it will serve as deterrent to others who are still having the mindset to engage in vandalism,” he said.
He urged the government to provide more patrol vehicles and speed boats for the corps to pursue vandals and prevent them from destroying pipelines.
Abolurin advised that national security should not be left alone to the security agencies.
He said that the security agencies work better if information was provided to them.
He said that the NSCDC was proactive in responding to distress or emergency calls.
He urged officers of the agency to work hard and be diligent in their duties.
