Leading operator in the downstream sector, Oando Marketing Limited has commenced massive distribution of kerosene to its petrol products retailing outlets nationwide, even as it directed that the popular but scarce product must be sold by its dealers at N50 per litre.

According to the company’s head of corporate communications, Mr Meka Olowola, the company has already taken delivery of more than 2.3million litres of the product, which has already been dispatched to different parts of the country. He mentioned the cities that have so far received the products as:  Kano, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Ilorin, Akure, Owerri, Kaduna, Benin, Warri, Abeokuta, Lagos and Abuja.
It will be recalled that the company only recently launched its ‘Pay-As-U-Gas’ initiative which involves dispensing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) into the customers’ cylinders using a metered pump, right there on the station forecourt.

And commenting on the initiative, the deputy chief operating officer, Oando Marketing, Mr. Yomi Awobokun said: “We recognize the criticality of domestic fuels such as kerosene and gas to homes in this nation. Through this supply, coupled with the extensive cooking gas retailing network we initiated earlier in the year, we are ensuring that all categories of our consumers have their cooking fuel requirements met. Our long term commitment is to ensure that cooking gas is made available at a very affordable rate to all Nigeria and we will not relent in our effort until everyone is satisfied”.

Harping on the rationale behind gesture, he added that: “As a customer-focused organisation, we are naturally concerned by the severe hardship Nigerians are facing due to the acute shortage of kerosene. This is why upon our receipt of the product; we have immediately dispatched over 60 trucks to various locations across the country to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians during Independence Day celebrations. We look forward to sustaining this supply until we rid the nation of this perennial scarcity.”

According to the company, the Pay-As-U-Gas has tremendous benefits to customers, among which is the flexibility of purchase as customers can now buy at a time only what they can afford, product integrity, convenience of purchase due to the closeness of the service to the customers and expert after sales service whilst allowing the customer to retain physical possession of their cylinder.
