OGFTZ Driving Jobs, Industrial Growth in Ogun, Says Governor’s Advisory Council

The Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) is rapidly reshaping the industrial and economic landscape of Ogun State, according to members of the state’s Governor’s Advisory Council.

This was made known during a recent stakeholder visit to the facility. The council, led by Chief Barrister O. B. Okuboyejo, along with royal fathers, policymakers, and industrialists, toured the Zone to witness its contributions to job creation, investment, and community development.

Speaking during the visit, OGFTZ Chairman Dr. Hafsat Balewa highlighted the Zone’s status as a leading Free Trade Zone in West Africa, emphasizing its role in generating over 10,000 direct jobs and more than 20,000 indirect employment opportunities.

She noted that the Zone’s continuous expansion is fueling industrial transformation and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.

Chief Okuboyejo praised the Zone’s impact on host communities, describing it as a model for trade and investment ecosystems.

Similarly, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, Oloja Ekun of Igbesaland, lauded OGFTZ for delivering tangible benefits to the local community, including technology transfer, corporate social responsibility projects, and employment opportunities, describing the initiatives as “a blessing to the people.”

The council concluded their visit with a guided tour of the Zone, gaining first-hand insight into its operational capacity and industrial innovations.

Stakeholders affirmed their commitment to leveraging the Zone’s potential to further drive economic development, positioning Ogun State as a hub for industrial growth in Nigeria.
