The Onne Customs Command in Onne, Rivers State has said that it collected a total of N77.6 billion into Federal Government coffers last year.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Compt. Magaji Mohammed in a statement last week said that the revenue was as a result of collective effort of Officers and men of the command even as he assured of commitments to do better this year.
Compt. Magagi stated unequivocally that, “measures this year are being taken to ensure that our performance exceed that of last year”,

Compt. Magagi stated unequivocally that, “measures this year are being taken to ensure that our performance exceed that of last year”,
He said that in order to ensure continuous performance of his men, he has embarked on ensuring that custom officers in his command are appropriately motivated, particularly during weekly meetings. This, he said is a catalyst in the boosting of their performance.
Compt. Mohammed however extended his hand of partnership to importers, clearing agents, as well as other stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the challenges that are being encountered in the clearance process.
He added that with appropriate permission from Headquarters in Abuja his command is working out plans on erecting a block of 30 rooms for his men at Ebubu Baracks in Onne as a way of cushioning the challenges posed by acute shortages of accommodation in Onne Command.
Magaji Mohammed also gave an update on what he tags: “e- registration” and using TIN number. He said that the e – registration is a new concept from the Central Bank Nigeria (CBN), which he said involve issuance of “e- Form M”. He added that all prospective importers must obtain it and register online, for it to be deemed appropriate for attention.
