The Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline vandalism constituted by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, has intercepted 17 trucks loaded with petroleum products in Kogi.
A statement signed by Mr Frank Mba, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, on Monday said the taskforce arrested one suspect in connection with the crime and recovered some instruments used in vandalising the affected pipeline.
The Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline vandalism constituted by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, has intercepted 17 trucks loaded with petroleum products in Kogi.
A statement signed by Mr Frank Mba, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, on Monday said the taskforce arrested one suspect in connection with the crime and recovered some instruments used in vandalising the affected pipeline.
The statement stated that the recovery and arrest were made after the taskforce on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9, smashed the NNPC Pipeline vandal syndicate at Agayin in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
“The vandals, over-powered by the police, abandoned 17 trucks, most of them already
loaded with stolen petroleum products.
“A Honda car, a Volkswagen Golf car, some weapons and other equipment used by the suspects to siphon petroleum products from vandalised NNPC pipelines were also recovered.
“The Special Task force also arrested one Stephen Amana of Adogo village, who confirmed owning one of the trucks," it said.
