African Circle Pollution Management Limited (ACPML) has taken delivery of 12 specialised trucks from overseas.
The trucks which have specialised components to ease the evacuation of solid waste were formally unveiled at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Control Tower, Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.
The delivery of the 12 trucks was sequel to its earlier acquisition of another set of vehicles equipped with facilities to compress waste loaded into to the rear compartments.

Port Manager, TCIP, Apapa, Lagos, Mr. Efioita Okon Ephraim who formally unveiled the trucks lauded the management of ACPML for acquisition of additional trucks and other equipment to enhance its work in the port.
According to Ephraim, the acquisition of the vehicles would go a long way in meeting the terms of the agreement it signed with the Federal Government through NPA.
He noted that the new trucks were improvements over the previous ones in view of the nature of the work they are expected to do in the port environments.
The Port Manger expressed delight that the strides ACPML have recorded over the years had helped Nigeria to meet the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) conventions and guidelines on safety and environment.
Ephraim who was flanked by other top officials of the authority at the occasion said NPA would do everything possible to meet its obligations in the agreement it signed with the Federal Government.
He commended ACPML for its capacity building over the years, especially in the training of NPA staff so that they can be in a position to effectively carry out waste collection and evacuation in the nation’s seaports.
Also speaking, the acting regional manager, West, ACPML, Miss Oyenike Okeowo said the new truck would help the firm to discharge its roles and responsibilities in the nation’s seaports satisfactorily.
She explained what the firm is doing is in line with international standards and practices.
She pointed out that its activities are not localised  as the firm is in touch with other firms doing similar things in the developed world, especially Europe.
“We are members of Euroshore which comprises companies that are involved in port reception facilities in Europe and beyond. We are in that organisation and many members are happy with what we are doing. In fact, some of them have indicated interest to come and see what we have put on ground here in Nigeria and very soon they would do so. In a nutshell, we are not working in isolation”, she said.
Similarly, ACPML general manager, corporate services, Mr. Ahmadu Fidi Ahmadu in his remarks said the trucks were imported from Netherlands with some specifications to suit its operations in the nation’s seaports.
He did not however disclose the exact cost of the trucks, pointing out that the company Account Department is still computing the figures and would make it public as soon as it computation is concluded.
