Giving an insight into what the company which currently operates Terminal “C” at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos has in stock for its customers, the company’ s head of public relations and marketing, Mr Oliver Omajuwa disclosed that the new arrangement will kick-start next Monday.

Giving an insight into what the company which currently operates Terminal “C” at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos has in stock for its customers, the company’ s head of public relations and marketing, Mr Oliver Omajuwa disclosed that the new arrangement will kick-start next Monday.
“Effective Monday, 25th June 2012, in our terminal (Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited –TCIP), containers booked for examination between 8.00am and 12.00noon will be dropped same day before 14.00hrs for examination, while bookings made after 12.00noon will be dropped at night same day for examination the next day”, he explained.
He added that the new operational milestone has been made possible as a result of resuscitation of some of hitherto faulty machines and acquisition of new ones, such as the “five units of new container handlers, new terminal operating system, two units of brand new forklifts to compliment the array of other machines in existence including the four existing harbour cranes.”
Shipping Position Daily recalls that the company recently announced the procurement of 10 new sets of Rubber Tyred Gantries (RTGs) that are billed to arrive at its terminal before the end of the third quarter of this year. This is also expected to further boost the rate of cargo delivery.
The statement also appealed to the company’s customers that they should ensure that they tidy up their ends too, “so that transacting business in seaports will tend towards best practices in view of the huge investment being injected into this terminal to ensure efficient and effective operations within the terminal “.
