Ports and Cargo, Cotecna, Others Bags MARAN Award

Indigenous terminal operator; Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited as well as destination inspection company, Cotecna Destination Inspection Limited  were among corporate organisations in the maritime industry that were honoured yesterday at the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) Awards for outstanding performance of the year.

Indigenous terminal operator; Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited as well as destination inspection company, Cotecna Destination Inspection Limited  were among corporate organisations in the maritime industry that were honoured yesterday at the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) Awards for outstanding performance of the year.
Apart from the corporate organisations, individuals including the National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agent (ANLCA) Prince Olayiwola Shittu as well as the Founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF); Dr Boniface Aniebonam were also honoured with special recognition awards.
The highpoint of the event was the award of the prestigious ‘Maritime Man Of The Year’ award to the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Diko Abdulahi Inde .
Others who were also honoured include; the Customs Area Controller in charge of Seme border, Comptroller MS Othman who was honoured for his anti-smuggling records since assuming office at the ever-busy border.
Three image makers in the industry were also rewarded by the association for their individual roles in the various organisations. They are : Chief Michael Ajayi; the  general manager, public affairs of Nigerian Ports Authourity, Mr Ignatius Nweke; the deputy director, public relations of the Nigerian Shippers Council and  the head of corporate affairs and marketing of Sifax Group; Mr Oliver Omajuwa.
Similarly, a former president of the association; Mr Ray Ugochukwu was also given special recognition for being a three-term president of the association.
Stakeholders ranging from the Chairman of Indigenous Shipowners Association of Nigeria (ISAN) Chief Isaac Jolapamo and the Chairman of the Ports Consultative Council (PCC) Otunba Kunle Folarin were also present at the event.
